Frequently Asked Questions
What is KCET College Predictor?
KCET College Predictor is a free tool that helps Karnataka CET students find engineering colleges they can get admission to based on their rank. We use official KEA cutoff data from 2023-2025 to provide accurate predictions for all categories including GM, SC, ST, OBC (2A, 2B, 3A, 3B), and special quotas like Rural, Kannada Medium, and Hyderabad-Karnataka.
How accurate are the predictions?
Our predictions are based on official KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority) cutoff data from the last 3 years (2023, 2024, 2025). While cutoffs can vary each year based on factors like number of applicants and seat availability, historical data provides a strong indication of your admission chances. We recommend using this as a guide alongside official KEA counselling information.
Which categories are supported?
We support all KCET categories: General Merit (GM), Category 1 (SC), Category 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B (OBC), Scheduled Caste (SC), and Scheduled Tribe (ST). We also support horizontal reservations including Rural quota, Kannada Medium quota, and Hyderabad-Karnataka (371J) reservation. SNQ (Special Non-Quota) fee waiver eligibility is calculated based on family income.
What is SNQ fee waiver?
SNQ (Special Non-Quota) is a fee waiver scheme for students from families with annual income below Rs. 8 lakhs. The waiver percentage depends on income slab: below Rs. 2.5 lakhs (Slab 1), Rs. 2.5-3.5 lakhs (Slab 2), Rs. 3.5-4.5 lakhs (Slab 3), Rs. 4.5-6 lakhs (Slab 4), and Rs. 6-8 lakhs (Slab 5). Our predictor shows SNQ-eligible options when you select your family income.
How many options should I fill in KCET counselling?
KEA recommends filling 50-100 options during KCET option entry. More options increase your chances of getting a seat. Our predictor helps you identify colleges across different tiers - Premier (NAAC A++/NIRF Top 100), Excellent (NAAC A+), Good (NAAC A/B++), and Standard colleges - so you can make informed choices and fill options strategically.
Which are the top engineering colleges in Karnataka?
Top engineering colleges in Karnataka include UVCE Bangalore, BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE), RV College of Engineering (RVCE), MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT), SIT Tumkur, SJCE Mysore, PES University, NIE Mysore, and NMIT Bangalore. These colleges are classified as Tier 1 (Premier) or Tier 2 (Excellent) in our predictor based on NAAC accreditation and NIRF rankings.
